80 - 89 B
70 - 79 C
60 - 69 D

Makeup of work hours: If you missed a day of lab, you may make up the time by working an extra shift. Each extra shift worked will make up for the missed points. You may also make up hours by working in the Student Store during break, during lunch (if not scheduled during lunch), and during class periods that are not your scheduled class, provided that you have a written pass from your teacher during that class period or if you do not have a scheduled class.
Homework Policy: Any assignment that is not finished during class will be considered homework assignment. Students may sign out a textbook to complete the homework, and must return the textbook immediately on the next class.
Daily Performance: Students will be working at the GCC/SSHS Marketing Laboratory Store, also called “Student Store”. Students will be graded on professionalism, customer service, appearance, and actual performance of assigned duties, which includes, but may not be limited to, cashier, sales associate, security, runner, internet supervisor, and so on. This will assist students in having real-world work experience. Third-year Marketing students will evaluate Marketing II students; however, the instructor will supervise to ensure that proper grades are given.
Department Management: Students will be grouped into “Departments” as part of hands-on training. These departments: Purchasing, Accounting, Human Resources, Visual Merchandising, and Promotion, will enhance the students’ skills in actual retail operation management of the GCC/SSHS Marketing Student Store. Third-year Marketing students will evaluate Marketing II students; however, the instructor will supervise to ensure that proper grades are given.
Daily Duties Management: Students will be performing maintenance duties, such as stocking, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, which are necessary to keep the classroom and Student Store clean. Third-year Marketing students will evaluate Marketing II students; however, the instructor will supervise to ensure that proper grades are given.
Service Learning: Service learning is an integral part of this program. Students will be able to practice skills learned in class while performing service for non-profit organizations. A minimum of 5 service-learning hours will be offered during the school year. Projects may include: Promoting DECA Membership, Practicing Communication Skills through a Coin Drive for Salvation Army, and Promoting the GCC Marketing Program during the Sharks Day at the Mall.
Extra credit will be given throughout the semester. It will be given equally, not individually. Thus, be sure to check your grade performance with the instructor periodically, not during the last two weeks of the quarter when it may be too late to bring up your grade! Example of extra credit is to work extra hours in the student store, as specified in the section “Makeup of work hours”; however, students can only receive up to 10% of total points as extra credit for that quarter. For example, if the total points possible for the quarter is 3000 points, then the total possible extra credit points will be 300 points. One minute will equal to 1 extra credit point.
